A Bit About Me
Eli Thomas is a classically trained violinist whose musical journey began at age six in San Diego and led him to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin performance from Shenandoah Conservatory under Akemi Takayama. He has performed across the U.S. and internationally, appearing in Spain, Argentina, and Jamaica, and studying under world-renowned musicians including Wynton Marsalis and Steven Woodham.
Eli has appeared as Assistant Concertmaster with the National String Symphonia, soloed with the Charles Washington Symphony, and performed at festivals led by Lorin Maazel of the New York Philharmonic. His versatility spans classical, jazz, Celtic, bluegrass, and classic rock, including stage appearances with Celtic Woman, the Irish Tenors, and sold-out Beatles tributes.
As a teacher, Eli has worked with students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. He is the co-founder and director of the Charles Washington Youth Orchestra and the Lighthouse Baptist Church Children’s Choir. His passion lies in the opportunity to affect a student’s life in a positive way. He loves proving that they are capable of far more than they might imagine, teaching them how to learn, and enabling them to see farther down the road of learning. Through music, he shows them to always be curious, helping every student unleash their own creative spark and open the door to discovery. He believes that a teacher has an important responsibility that requires constant dedication, hard work, and self-evaluation to ensure every student gets the very best they deserve.
As founder of Nova Strings, Eli collaborates with top-tier professional musicians to offer elegant live music for weddings, receptions, and special events, available as a solo violinist, duo, trio, or quartet. Known for his professionalism, Eli hand-curates each performance to match the event’s atmosphere, handling every detail with precision and care.
